THE DOBIE FAMILY IN AUSTRALIA

Malcolm McNicol Dobie and Ida Adeline Davis

I found some information relating to a Mack "Scotty" Dobie in the Davis Family Tree.

Where it states "Ida Adeline Davis-244 was born 19 Jul 1897 in Watervale, South Australia. She died 20 Nov 1962. Ida married (MRIN:79) Mack "Scotty" Dobie-336."

I contacted the custodian of this Davis Family Tree (Malcolm Rodney Davis - davismr@tpg.com.au ) for futher information and to tell him that, according to my records, this Mack "Scotty" Dobie is my grand uncle. In plain language he was my Great Grandfather's youngest brother.

Died: 15 February 1954 at Dudley Park South Australia

Ida Adeline Davis
Born: 19 Jul 1897 in Watervale, South Australia
Died: 20 November 1972

(Malcolm Davis has Ida's death recorded as 20 November 1962 - but according to the the Cemetry Index at http://www.saghs.org.au/cgi-bin/sadeaths/db_search.cgi it is actually 1972).

Apparently they had no children.

Ida Davis was the youngest daguhter of Elford Davis and Mary Craig.

Elford Davis married (MRIN:17) Mary Carrigg-241 on 26 Oct 1880 in Port Augusta, South Australia. Mary was born 7 Nov 1850 in Lincolnshire, England. She died 4 Jul 1917 in Manoora, South Australia and was buried in Manoora, South Australia.

They had the following children:

Elford Ambrose Davis-242 was born 8 Jan 1882 and died 16 Nov 1924.
Albert Seymour Davis-22 was born 26 Jul 1884 and died 20 Jul 1968.
Susan Mary Olive Davis-243 was born 30 Mar 1886 and died 26 Feb 1974.
Ida Adeline Davis-244 was born 19 Jul 1897 in Watervale, South Australia. She died 20 Nov 1962 (1972).

Ida married (MRIN:79) Mack "Scotty" Dobie-336.
